Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Industrial Design Lead in our growing Design Engineering Group. The role is located in any US or Canada KIE office, with the opportunity for flexible work. You will be part of our growing Infrastructure Design Department covering various markets with a broad Industrial project portfolio - including Automobile manufacturing facilities, Military bases/facilities, Cargo Facilities, Rail/Transit stations and facilities, Aviation facilities, pharmaceutical facilities, hospitals, or power facilities. Our portfolio is broad, which means you have versatile projects to work on, and the opportunity to make your mark on Industrial facilities across North America!
In this role, you will take the lead to develop innovative design solutions for all and help build our Industrial Design team in United States, Canada, and Mexico. We are interested in someone who is self-motivated, has a passion for solving complex design problems and broad technical expertise in Industrial Engineering.
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. This position can be based in any KIE office within the continental US or Canada with ability to travel up to 50% of the time as needed. Opportunities for flexible work are available.
Work with leaders across Kiewit to advance the technical and business applications of the buildings/facilities group for Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering supporting various market areas (transportation, industrial, water/wastewater, manufacturing, etc...).
Coordinate engineering designs for industrial building and facility proposals and projects, interfacing with other Kiewit offices/teams, external design consultants/partners in the USA and Canada.
Lead and perform engineering design tasks and coordinate with design teams in developing plans, specifications, and estimates for final design of train and bus stations, maintenance facilities, aviation facilities and other industrial/infrastructure facilities.
Develop task scopes, schedules, and budgets for design deliverables for Industrial designs and site layouts.
Identify and understand technical requirements of design projects and implement engineering principles to develop solutions.
Provide technical reviews at the conceptual and final design stages of project development
Perform interdisciplinary reviews for coordination with other design disciplines and compliance with contract documents.
Lead technical meetings and discussions; strategize solutions to complex or unique technical problems.
Identify technical differentiators and develop schemes for key project pursuits.
Assist Sr. Manager in hiring, developing, and coaching an Industrial engineering design team.
Bachelor's degree or greater in Industrial Engineering or related engineering field such as Mechanical Engineering.
10+ years' experience in relevant Industrial engineering design.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in at least one state, or ability to procure license within one year of employment.
Experience with Design-Build or other alternative delivery methods
Established relationships with public and private transportation agencies required.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Ability to travel as business requires to Kiewit office, project offices and other sites
